First Day of Classes and History Presentation

The campus on the first day of classes for the 2010-2011 school year

Giving the History presentation in Lowe Hall

Presenting the rich History of Davis College to the Freshmen

Yesterday (Monday, August 30, 2010) was the first day of classes for the 2010-2011 school year. The campus was alive with activity as students headed to classes and began soaking up the Word. The Broadway Cafe also opened to the public and several people from the community came in to buy some of the first cups of coffee.

Yesterday, I also presented the History of the College to the Freshmen class. So much history and so little time to present it all. It was a great time and many freshmen said that they enjoyed it afterward.

Freshmen History Presentation on Monday

Presentation 2 years ago (Monday, September 15, 2008)

This coming Monday (August 30, 2010) I will be presenting the History of the College to the Freshmen in College Life. This marks the 5th Freshmen class that I have done the History Presentation with. The first class the heard the presentation was the class that just graduated in May, back when they were Freshmen in September 2006. I presented it a second time on Monday, September 10, 2007, and a third time on Monday, September 15, 2008. Last year I presented it on Monday, September 14, 2009. Every time I present the history to a new class I have a great experience of sharing just a little piece of rich heritage they have come to.

See you all Monday

Thanks you to JoAnne Casterlin and Rick Cramer for inviting me.

Today (Monday, September 15, 2008) I presented the history of Davis College to the Freshman Class (class of 2012). It was a great time sharing the history of Davis. This was the third time I have presented the history the Freshman class. The first time was the beginning of my Senior year in the Fall of 2006 and I did it last year also well. Any Freshman checking out the blog feel free to send feedback/questions using the form on the side. Above are a couple of pictures from the presentation.

Thank you Dr. Parker for letting me share the history with your class.

History of the School in Freshman Seminar

Yesterday (Monday, September 10, 2007) I had the privilege for the second year in a row to teach the History of Davis in the class Freshman Seminar. I had put together a PowerPoint last year, which I modified for this year. I am already thinking of ways to modify it for next year if I am given the chance to teach it again. There is much information to cover about a school that is 107 years old considering I cover the life of Dr. John A. Davis in detail as well. They seemed to enjoy it and many came up to me after I was done and said they had learned a lot. I enjoy teaching the rich history of this school and learning about it and the way that God has worked in the hearts and lives of Alumni and the lives of those the Alumni have touched in the name of Christ. The Sun never sets on PBTS/PBC/Davis Alumni!
