Grandfather and Grandson

Here is a picture of John A. Davis and his only grandson Jackie Davis, the son of Charles and Mae Davis. He was born on May 10, 1924 so if he was still alive he would be 83 years old, but he passed away in 1938 at the age of 14. This picture freezes in time a time when he was young (maybe 1-2 years old) between 1925-1926. A time before the Great Depression during the Golden Years of PBTS in the 1920s. In 1931 Jackie's father died. Jackie was taken care of by his mother Mae until the his death on August 6, 1938. He died of meningitis. I wonder what the book was that his grandfather John A. Davis was reading him on that day?
